Parrotia persica Persian Spire (Persian Ironwood ‘Persian Spire’)
“Parrotia persica Persian Spire (Persian Ironwood cultivar) is a deciduous, hardy, small tree with a narrow, upright profile.
It’s perfect for smaller gardens or large patio pots where it will offer interest throughout the year.
In late Winter/early Spring tiny spidery red flowers display before the attractive rich purple foliage emerges, changing to a rich dark green with a purple fringe in summer.
As the temperatures start to dip in autumn they transform again, this time turning a blaze of yellow, orange and red before they drop to reveal the grey and fawn bark.
Will grow up to a height of 4 metres with a 1 to 2 metre spread.
Can be grown in exposed or sheltered aspects, in all soil types ensuring the soil is moist and well-draining.”
