Andrew joined Nangle and Niesen in 1994 and immediately became an integral part of the team. Having graduated from An Grianan College in Termonfeckin in the early nineties Andrew worked in Van den Berk Nursery, one of the top nurseries in Europe, to further his knowledge of trees before settling in Cork.
There really isn’t much that Andrew doesn’t know about trees and he has been an invaluable asset to the company since he joined. Understanding, nurturing, growing and getting the best out of our trees is in his DNA. However, that nurturing talent isn’t restricted to trees – it extends to people as well. His knowledge, communication skills and patience has meant that dozens of employees have learnt from the master. He is a core member of the senior management team with Ronan Nangle and Oliver Long.
In his spare time Andrew is a keen gardener and enjoys walking and fishing. He lives locally with his wife Trina and two children, Amie and Jack.
Oliver LongFacility Manager
Oliver has officially been with Nangle & Niesen since 1996, but had many years of service before then. Having studied at Kildalton College he spent time in Opheusden in Holland before coming back and joining the team.
Facilities management doesn’t really capture what Oliver does – it is so much more than that. A huge asset to the nursery with an encyclopaedic knowledge of trees, his role covers everything from plant selection, soil management, machinery procurement and maintenance, pest and disease management, logistics and site maintenance. A deep thinker, Oliver is a born problem solver and his ingenuity and inventiveness has found solutions when none seemed possible on many occasions. Along with Ronan Nangle and Andrew Kelly, he makes up the senior management team.
When not working, Oliver and his wife Lisa keep a beautiful garden and an even more impressive vegetable patch. However, his real passion is fishing and he spends as much time as he can on the lakes in Killarney. Oliver lives locally in Aherla with his wife Liga and son Joey, who also works part-time in the nursery.
Norma GravesOffice & Accounts Manager
Norma joined Nangle & Niesen Ltd. in 2016 and has brought with her a wealth of experience in the horticultural industry. Having started her career in Floral Décor in the city she moved to Nangles Nurseries on the Model Farm Road in 1993 and furthered her experience there until joining us here in Aherla.
Norma manages all aspects of our accounts including budgeting, credit control and wages, as well as HR and compliance. On top of that, her vast horticultural knowledge means that she has an excellent understanding of our customer requirements and an ability to deal with their requests in a professional manner.
With a Diploma from the RHS and a graduate of Gurteen Agricultural & Horticultural College, Norma’s experience in horticulture and accounts have made her a tremendous asset to Nangle and Niesen. Norma is a keen gardener and amateur florist and lives in the Bandon area.
Dimitri LucotProduction Foreman
Dimitri joined the team in 2016 after completing his work experience with us and graduating from Scoil Stiofain Naofa Horticultural College. He has always been a keen gardener and is a fabulous vegetable grower with experience of running an organic farm, so the step up to working with trees didn’t pose too many problems.
Having trained under Andrew Kelly’s watchful eye, Dimitri has proved to be a fast learner and a natural with trees. He now leads his own team and the student has become the teacher. Dimitri has good communication skills and a patient manner that makes him popular with other team members.
A native of France, he has a Gallic flair to almost everything he does and the food he grows often makes it way to the tables when we host our open days. Dimitri lives locally in the Aherla area.
