Taxodium distichum imbricatum (Pond Cypress)

“Taxodium distichum var. imbricatum (Pond Cypress) is a deciduous, narrower and smaller form of the distichum species and is an ideal conifer for wet soils – beside ponds, rivers, or water features.

This tree is still large, pyramidal in shape, and can grow up to 15 metres in height. The bark is grey-brown to red-brown with horizontal to ascending branching and deciduous, pointy and spirally arranged leaf, turning orange-brown in fall. Grows small, round cones, which are purple when young. The foliage is always late to appear in the spring particularly after planting, but will start growing strongly from July onwards.”
