Trees with attractive bark become an important ornamental element in winter when the shedding of leaves exposes trunks and branches revealing their glory.
Often varying bark textures can be seen on the same tree and this adds an attractive aspect during winter when the surrounding landscape is bare.
Birch trees can be a wonderful choice in this regard, from Betula utilis Jacquemontii with its white stems and graceful ascending branches, to Betula albosinensis Fascination which has outstanding stem colour of orange peeling to pink and cream and then purest white once the tree gets beyond 30cm girth.
In autumn many of our birch trees put on a spectacular show of bright yellow leaf colour while their bark colour can run from salmon pink to reddish brown and white and can peel to give an interestingly textured appearance. These different colours and bark textures of the many birch species provide outstanding winter interest.
Feel free to browse through our stock, we are always happy to talk about our trees. Visits to the nursery are welcome by appointment and are a great way to experience our trees for yourself.
